Skinny Margarita Drink Recipe

The skinny margarita is really just a revisiting to the true original margarita recipe: tequila and lime juice.

The whole point of a skinny margarita, or “skinny” anything is to have zero to low sugar in the cocktail coming from the flavoring/mixer ingredients. So in the basic margarita recipe that means removing the sweet and sour which is made with high fructose corn syrup and replacing it with a zero or low sugar substitute.

The term skinny was really popularized by the Real Housewives of New York star, Bethany Frankel. She didn’t invent the recipe (remember, the original has been in mexico for as long as they’ve made tequila and grew limes) but she definitely created a good business around it!

For those of you who still want to live in the dream world of drink-as-much-as-you-want-and-not-get-fat then this skinny margarita cocktail recipe is for you!
