Shot and Shooter Drink Recipes

Shooters are great when bartending because there is so much room to be vague, and really, just make what ever the hell you want.

Many shooters have several different versions, some as many as 10, and are all sweet and delicious anyway so if you can only remember a two out of three ingredients, just grab something else that is neutral like triple sec, vodka, whatever, and no one will mind.

And if a customer ever asks you about why you put the ingredients that you did, just tell them “oh that’s how we pour it here…”

Shooters are consumed the same way as a shot, but are made up of several ingredients (usually three). I like shooters because you don’t have to be exactly precise with your ingredients and can fudge the amounts a little. Your shooters are generally (depending on the bar) about 3 oz, and if they have 3 ingredients, its usually about 1 oz (4 count) per ingredient, per shooter.

If you have only two ingredients in a shooters, its 1½ oz (6 count) per ingredient… 4 ingredients in a shooter is ¾ oz (3 count) per ingredient.

The important thing to remember with shooters is because you are shaking them in a mixing tin, you will usually want to count fast as there will inevitably be some ice melt happening during the shake which will add to the alcohols. We’ll also look at “bomb shots” and show you how to properly craft them without making a mess all over your bar.
